Thanks Hali for setting this up!
The photos that I just uploaded are some snapshots of what I'm trying to work on, the actual photos will be shot in B&W film. I have been shooting some film but although I have developed it I haven't printed it yet (I still have to learn how to!) so as soon as I have prints I'll post them or bring them to class.
After reading the email that MJ sent us and after what she said in the last class I came to realise that the images that I'm working for (looking for) are in a way a mean to cope with what I'm living. Trying to photograph abandoned buildings or the 'change' the city is going through or the 'aestheticization' of empitness is a way to building my own simulacra of symbols or poetics in this place. I still don't know the shape that the whole project will take, at the moment I'm most of all I'm getting to know the city, looking for spots and learning how to use the camera for this!
The places that I have been taking photos of are: Branch Gallery, the condemned building at Duke st (almost corner with Chapel Hill st), Bargain Furniture, Book Exchange... if any one knows how I could get inside this places or know more spaces similar to these ones, please let me know.
I'll be happy to know your thoughts on what I'm working on and to share more ideas and photos... and of course to see your work too.
